Mel is a founding member of Three Farm, bringing 10 years business management experience to the network. Mel is proud to say she has never obtained a university degree. All of her professional learnings have been self initiated and on the job. She believes in a bottom-up approach - gaining her own wide array of experience from sweeping floors through to managing a 40 person team at a creative studio.

Mel has also led the development of Makers Place Inc - a community facility built to provide access to digital fabrication tools and equipment required for invention. Most recently she is working on Ability Mate - a technology platform which connects designers and makers to people who have a disability - together they remake and innovate assistive technology.

SAMUEL CHOY

Three Farm Design & Education Facilitator since 2013

Sam is an avid Maker, he loves to tinker and has a passion to teach. His curiosity of how things work is what attracted Sam to the Three Farm network. Apart from his obsession with tinkering Sam has obtained a Bachelor of Industrial Design from the University of New South Wales. He then completed a Graduate Diploma in Education (secondary) majoring in Technology and Applied Studies and Society and Culture.

In 2006 Sam competed in the Australian TV show The New Inventors on the ABC. As well as Sam’s ability to make innovative things he has a kind heart. He has an appreciation of people and nature, if he is unavailable it's probably because he is volunteering at the local homeless shelter or exploring the depths of ocean by scuba diving.

Like other members of the Three Farm network Sam is passionate about the democratisation of  manufacturing and the decentralisation of education.

Adedoyin Ogunniyi

Three Farm Design & Education Facilitator since 2015

Ade (ah-dee) graduated from MIT in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. She is a big advocate of the STEAM education movement. She has years of experience working at several American Makerspaces including the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Centre (Orlando, FL)  and Edgerton Outreach Centre (Cambridge, MA).

Ade’s approach to life is to live, laugh, love. Ade has a natural gift of teaching and is at her happiest when she helps students succeed in creating something meaningful. Although Ade has the skills to be a high brow engineer she has chosen the path of maker advocacy and education so others are equipped for the Next Industrial Revolution.

Kin Ly

Three Farm Design & Education Facilitator since 2015

Kin Ly is an Industrial Designer who trained at the University of NSW. Kin’s interest for digital manufacturing grew from original learnings of traditional methods of manufacturing such as turning, milling etc.  Kin believes in the potential of Digital Fabrication and therefore advocates for the ethical uptake of this kind of technology.

Kin works very hard striving for a more equal society and has been volunteering for almost a decade with various organisations. Most recently Kin’s altruism led him to India working on Solar Power projects in impoverished areas.

Kin recently completed a Human Centred Design course run by +Acumen & ideo.org, and like all of our facilitators he is enthusiastic about passing on his knowledge to people who want to make a difference through design & technology.
